This year’s Mothers’ Day was spent without my mother because there’s a Mothers’ Day party at a relatives’ place and they chose not to bring us along because it was hoooot. ;A;
What did my siblings and I do without the laptop? Watch X-Men movies.
Among all the Marvel comics-turned-movies, I like X-Men the most. (Spiderman is next.) I like the overall complexity of it (best friends turned enemies due to belief, love despite all odds, etc.) and the sub-stories in tow. I also like the cartoon series called X-men Evolution. I was also in high school when I first saw it so I found the whole idea of the group in high school.
Anyway, back to the movies.
Sadly, up until that Sunday, I haven’t seen X-Men: First Class as a whole so we started with that. Basically, the movie talks about before the Prof. Xavier’s school was established. Mystique and Prof. X are good friends (and almost lovers, imo) while Magneto is searching for revenge on his own. Prof X and Magneto are also good friends in this movie. Together, they fight a mutant named Sebastian Shaw who can absorb energy and plans to start World War III in order to take over the world. That was just… wow. Good cast. Good story. Simply wow.
Then, we also watched X-Men: the Last Stand because I do not remember the story anymore. I haven’t watched movies in ages because I spent most of my time online. (Being away from the laptop is liberating at times.) This is the last movie in the whole series. Drug to make mutants normal surfaces. Magneto wants take over the world and intends to do so by gathering a whole army of mutants, including the level 5 mutant, Phoenix (aka Jean Grey’s other self/subconscious). The X-men does their best to stay together and defeat evil despite their number.
Overall, it was a relaxing after just watching some of the movies I like. I am so looking forward to the latest X-men movie called X-men: Days of Future Past! It’s showing in the Philippines on the 21st of May. Will you be watching the movie?
Me, I’m not so sure yet given that Fashion Week is on the following week. Need to save, save, save!
